Cochin to Munnar

Today, we got an early start and spent about 5 hours on a stressful drive to Munnar. The stress in driving comes from the complete lack of rules in terms of who goes where on the road. The horn is pretty much used every time you are close to another car, which is pretty much all the time. The cars go fast and travel within about a foot of each other. There is rarely a traffic signal or light, and if you are passing someone, it's completely okay to go into oncoming traffic and take up 3/4 of the roadway. If it looks like you are going to collide with them, usually one of the two people stops.

Munnar is a hill station higher in elevation and cooler in temperature. We saw many tea plantations there and a nice lake. In town, I went to get my hair cut. It was $1.50 for a full haircut. That was cheap, but I think that he overcharged me and that the regular price was about 75 cents. We got a so so dinner near our hotel for $3 for the two of us. It's amazing how cheap everything is.
